Hi,
The yellow form is NOT the xanthic, golden aquarium strain. It's a
'real' fish with more yellow than blue (my blue ones had very little
yellow). My understanding is rams range from Colombia to Venezuala (not
a huge range, but), and there are indeed variations in colour. Someone
with more experience, or collecting experience could be more precise.
They are very pretty little fish, a touch aggressive among themselves,
but that only makes for some nice displaying.
I don't have the techno skill or equipment to put up pictures. My
impression after 2 months keeping is their overall look is 'tighter'
than the selected forms - there are no exaggerated fins flopping about
and even their colouration seems more concentrated. They don't have the
vivid gold on the flanks I've seen with German yellow rams. They also
seem a touch smaller than their selected cousins. They are very active
compared to the German blues I used to keep. They're perky little
beasts. I like 'em.
