Take this for what it's worth. I don't see any need for the plywood bases on the
horizontal 2x4s. Your tanks, like mine, are small. If leveled properly they don't
really need support under the entire foot print. Strips of styrofoam sheeting
makes excellent leveling material as it selectively compresses all by itself.
I've found that water seeping under the tank base causes more problems than it's
worth. I'd just use some scrap 2x4 for cross bracing/light hanging. I've had my
tanks on 2x4 and 4x4 open frames for 20 years without problems. I use "gutted"
shop lights in plastic rain gutter for strip lighting. Some have been in use for
20 years now. It's cheap and works well.
