Steph, It's a beautiful fully mature male Pv. pulcher, but the Matadi designation probably is incorrect. Matadi is a city near the mouth of the Congo River. The krib species in that area is Pv. subocellatus (Matadi). There is a new species on fish lists called Pv. taeniatus (Matadi), but if this is different from the subocellatus, then it's almost certainly a member of the taeniatus species-group (probably a color form of Pv. kribensis). Pv. pulcher is not known to occur any farther south than Ndonga, a small Cameroon village near its border with Nigeria. This is a long ways away from Congo. If you read the article about this krib then you remember that the author mentions that the head turned black. Perhaps he is using the Matadi name as an allusion to the black flanks seen on breeding female Pv. subocellatus.
