how does one sex these cute little monsters? i thought i had a female curviceps so i went out and got her a slender fish, with more pointy fins, which i think it's a male. now she is getting pointy fins too, although she is still very heavy. am i correct in assuming that females do get very pointy and elongated fins, and unlike apistos, that is not a sexual characteristic? same thing with my thayeri pair, both seem to be developing long fins, although i had picked one with less prominent finnage than the other. i also have a M. altispinosa pair where the smaller fish didn't have those elongated fins (caudal and dorsal) but then it started developing those and i thought, uh oh, i have 2 males. but it also shows an ovipositor, so i know it's a pair. of course, they have not shown any interest in starting a family yet... tsuh yang chen, nyc ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@majordomo.pobox.com.
