Anyone have views on which RO salts and pH adjusters are best for reconstituting the water? My problem is that since switching from rain water to a UK brand unit a month ago, I suddenly started to get algae problems. It might not be what I'm adding to the water (the mornings are getting sunnier again, food brands have been changed, etc) but are Marc Weiss Recon 50 and API's pH Down considered OK to work with. pH Down claims sulphuric acid and no phosphates. Another problem is that while the resulting GH is 3, the KH is 1 or lower. Is it worth adding sodium bicarb to the mix? BTW I'm aiming for a pH of 6.5 and soft water, nothing extreme. On drinking RO water, bacteria can be a problem if it is left sitting around. --------------------------------------------------------------- from: John McCrone -- science writer mailto: j.mccrone@btinternet.com web site: http://www.btinternet.com/~neuronaut/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@majordomo.pobox.com.
