Thanks for the info. Please, let us know how big they get and, if possible, send
me a photo. Your females appear to be establishing a dominance pecking order.
Sounds like they're settling in. If your fish are Orangesaum (Orange-seam)
Apistos and breed similar to other Balzfleck-group species, I would expect you to
see that the male isn't very territorial. But when he's ready to breed he will
pick out a cave in a female's territory and entice her to his spawning cave (not
her own, like in most apistos). Breeding reports for the Weißsaum (White-seam)
Apisto and A. sp. Minima (color variants of the Orangesaum or closely related
species) recommend pH values below 5.5 and extremely soft water. They also do
best with fine sand, used to cover the entrance to the cave. Good luck with this
fish and let us know how everything works out.
