Yeah, but that's the thing: my male doesn't have long dorsal lappetts (I think they're called that?); he's got one or two 'rays' that are separated at the very front, but not long and extended.
Additionally, I'd like to revise my description posted last week - the spots and stripes of the male seem to come and go with mood. He does occasionally have a lateral line, and even sometimes a suborbital stripe. The dorsal blotches are fairly constant, although they vary in darkness over time. Still has the black front few rays of his dorsal fin.
I've had these guys since sunday the 18th - they must have been looking for an excuse to spawn, and decided that moving into new digs was it!

If you've got Rio Mamore fry that's great. It's really a sharp fish
that I keep meaning to add to my collection. Always been into apistos
with big high fin type dorsals like in the Cacatuoide type fish. Good
luck with them.
