uh, i found another, more recent, Grainger catalog, and indeed there ARE conductivity meters in there. sorry to have bothered everyone.
however, if anyone cares to take a shot at a science lesson regarding how to use an ohmmeter as a conductivity meter, please do so, as a multimeter still might be cheaper.
