splitting pots

Is there a quick and easy way to split clay flower pots in half?  I
always try with a hammer, but I can never get it in half.  One piece has
the bottom, the other is just the side wall.  It would be nice to have
them in two equal pieces.
  I usually just use a whole pot with the drain hole enlarged a bit for
breeding, but I like to have places for fish to hide when they are
growing out.
