They were mcmasteri too, with regular red finnage but a pale metallic borellii blue on the body. A friend had a single pair which never spawned in a year. I've never seen another mcmasteri with those colours.... Hey I have a pair of mcmasteri - supposedly - and the male has a very attractive blue sheen, particularly round the head. I was a bit puzzled as the colours did not match the few mcmasteri pics I had access to while the body shape did, so I was not sure whether to accept the fish shop's attribution. I live in England so they might be a locally preserved type. On the other hand, I really don't know enough to be able to say what mcmasteri should look like. Anyway, they lay eggs regularly in a big community tank but the eggs always get eaten. I'm not sure who is responsible yet, or what the trigger is. In a week I'm moving them into a breeding set up to see if I get better results. They have turned out a much prettier fish than I was expecting - certainly more spectacular than some caucatoides I had. ------------------------------------------------------------ from John McCrone - Science Writer mail to: j.mccrone@btinternet.com web site: http://www.btinternet.com/~neuronaut/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@listbox.com.
