Incorporation
To expedite the incorporation process, I'd like to fill out this form and
send it in to the Secretary of State office rather than wait for the board
meeting, if that's OK with the rest of the board. It's pretty
straightforward (for a government form) but there are a few things that we
need to iron out.
(by the way, if you want to look at the Application to Form a Nonprofit
Corporation form, you can see it at the Sec. of State website
www.secstate.wa.gov/corps )
I called their office and they told me it takes about a week to complete
the incorporation process, or we can expedite it to one day for an
additional $20. Might be worth it.
We need to decide what to do with our assets in the event of a voluntary
dissolution. We must select another nonprofit corporation to pass them on
to, such as a hospital, university, another club etc. Any ideas?
Under "purpose for which the nonprofit corp. is organized" I thought I
could distill something out of the statement that appears on our website
and newsletter under THE GREATER SEATTLE AQUARIUM SOCIETY.
I have talked to them about the definition of "registered agent" and
"incorporator", and I can sign for both.
The Sec. of State phone # is 360-753-7120 and then select 5 to speak with a
human being, if you have any questions.
