There is already something on the web front end that includes the 
appropriate expiration reminders on the labels, and also transitions 
people from the expiring to expired when the appropriate button is 
clicked.  I would be happy to do a review of how it works.

This was actually how the previous system worked (although the whole 
member # thing seems to be new -- is this just keying off the index in the 
database?).  The club (professionally?) printed literally thousands of 
membership cards.  Sometimes they went out at meetings.  Sometimes they 
were stapled to newsletters (I would scan for the just-paid flag in the 
database, set by the membership director).

In the late '90's, we kept it even simpler than that: We had "HELLO my 
name is" stickers and a couple of Sharpies.
