Re: [GSAS-board] Treasurer Report

I am late to the party here, but my two cents are:

Maybe we can make things more convenient for the buyers and easier on Susan by coming up with a good way to expedite checkout, including early checkout. I think early checkout is a wonderful thing, and if we can find a way to do it, it might even make the whole auction process shorter.

For example, when you get your item, you get a form, and if you fill it out at your seat and have exact change, it will take only moments to be processed on your way out the door. People will quickly learn to bring small bills to the meetings.

OK, what about the guy who needs a few bucks in change? He has to wait til the end... unless he wants to give his change to the club! We keep track of that, and every $1 in such "donations" means another ticket in a raffle that we do at the big auction or picnic.

Keeping track of who paid extra for their raffle tickets is another bookkeeping burden on the club--so I propose making it the member's problem. Give them some actual tickets instead of their $3 change, and it's their job to keep track of them til the drawing. Stripping a few tickets off a roll will still be faster than making change, plus it makes the club some money.

I know I'd drop a $10 on the way out the door if my tab was $8, ya know?

Just an idea. I am a game designer by trade so I always start with something complicated. :) Easy for me to suggest all this since I don't run the auctions...

I look at it the other way: HAP/BAP is eligible for split and all else as donation.  We reserve the right to lump donations into a door prize program.  (ie duckweed/moss as door prize call 2X at a time).  The stuff gets redistributed and the meetings are shorter.

Lets see how Oct goes.
