Hi All,

Erik, thank you for clarifying the different categories in our membership
database for me.  It seems like a good system but is it hard to determine
how many "active" (paying) memberships we have in the club?  Obviously the
information would be helpful in determining if we are growing, shrinking, or
just maintaining our membership.  For example, do we have a larger paying
membership as of 1/1/10 compared with 1/1/09?

I am kind o wondering how we determine the size of our "active" (paying)
membership.  I am guessing that 'Single', 'Family', 'Senior', and 'Junior'
would all be "active" members but how about 'businesses"?  Are all of our
'Business' memberships paying "active" members or do we send them
newsletters because they are a store in the area....maybe both?  I know that
is a question to address to Margie but maybe someone else knows?

I guess what I am saying is the database does look fine; I just need to
learn some more as to how it is used.  I don't think we should delete
notable hobbyists who have been speakers for the club, such as Luis Navarro
or Ghazanfar Ghori, unless they request it.

Here is an interesting question, when we send out our electronic newsletter
is there a way to "unsubscribe"?  It could be as basic as a statement
advising recipients to send a reply requesting removal to Steev.  Although,
thinking further, who would ever want to do such a thing!!!!!

We've already got a classification of members in the database:

enum('Single','Family','Senior','Junior','Business','Speaker','Exchange','Li
fe')

Fairly sure that we've been tagging speakers appropriately.

The current unexpiring types are Life and Exchange.  I can add Speaker to 
that list so they don't get auto-purged... just let me know if the board 
wishes to do this. :)
