Subject: RE: Dwarf Neon RainbowsHello Adam, I have bred dwarf neon rainbows. The one thing that got me through the stage where the fry are too small to eat baby brine shrimp, is a light. It's called night feeding. I read about it in a fama magazine. You take a very small light ( I use a small orange night light ) and place it right by the tank. The idea is to have only a small spot of light, not light up the whole tank. The mirco organisms that the tiny fry eat are drawn to the light. The fry are also drawn to the light and presto instant food. I do not lose fry anymore it really does work! You are right on with having java moss in the tank, that helps too. Were you thinking of breeding dwarf neons? They are much easier. You can leave the parents right in the tank and they don't eat the eggs or babies. The parents will lay their eggs ri! ght in the java moss. No mops required. If you want to try with them I have some Beautiful hand raised young ones just at breeding age. You won't find any like this in the store. Let me know and maybe we can work out a trade. I can bring them to the next meeting. They are pretty enough to go in with my Discus. Which is the plan as soon as I get a bigger tank. Sandy
P.S. Does anyone have a 100+ tank for sale at a reasonable price?

Hi,
I have breed Boesman Rainbows. I have the fish spawn in a mop of yarn and
then moved the mop into the clean tank. I didn't mess with any spawning
trays and it worked fine. On my first try I got about 20 fry swimming
around. Only 5 made it past 2 months though... My next attempt is going to
be with Neon Rainbows. I'm going to put the mop in a tank with moss, and
very green water. My hope is that the green water will help get them past
the first few months. That trade off is that it's not sterile, but the only
way to find out is to try (or ask this list). BTW, I'm using 10 gallon tanks
for breeding and raising fry. If anyone out there has suggestions or
comments, I'd like to here them.
