I have a friend who has 3 large goldfish in a 20 gallon tank. One has
large lumps on it's fins. They are about the same size as it's eyes and
it's a big fish. Fins are otherwise in perfect condition on all 3 fish,
color and appetite are good. Two are the kind with lumpy heads, don't
know the breed name. Does anyone know if old goldfish are prone to
tumors? They don't look like parasitic or infectious problems but I
can't really tell. Was wondering if maybe the gene that causes the head
to have the lumpy look is prone to getting out of hand... or does anyone
know any good sites on goldfish? I haven't kept the buggers myself since
I won some at a fair in 3rd grade, they didn't make it more than a
couple days so I am definitely not a good resource for my friend. Any
advice?
I can't get her real motivated on the water change concept so I gave her
an ammonia test to see where that is at from time to time, but she never
really does change the water and only one fish is affected so am
guessing it's not infectious in any major way...
Thanks,
Kate
