Re: What to expect at the auction this year?
Thanks for the reply Erik. I didn't realize it was "allowed" for someone to
use my email from the list to send me nasty email. I do now. It won't happen
again. I guess I should have used an email that isn't my personal one.
I wasn't actually asking about the meetings. I do realize they have had those
dates for years. I was simply asking about the annual auction. I've been an
active member of both the MASI organization in St. Louis and the Heartland club
in Kansas City and been to numerous large auctions held by both. I was curious
about the choice for the weekday auction was all. I'd genuinely like to
participate and bring fry from the different fish I have spawning at this time,
and make connections with other fish keepers within driving distance. I
greatly enjoy the networking involved with being a club member. Sorry that
won't be possible.

Barbie,
We have discussed different options for the meeting night in the past.
Our "sister club" GPAS in Portland has actually gone so far as to hold a
Saturday meeting once per quarter for the big speakers. But they end up
getting less attendance than on their weekday meetings. Why? I'm not
sure exactly, but I think there's a whole bunch of people who don't mind
having a weekday taken up with a club meeting, but when it's their
Saturday, no way. My guess is that this would probably happen here too.
I would normally add regarding the not-so-nice reply, "keep the list
civilized." Then again, he did mail the nasty comment to you off-list,
and there's not really much *we* can do about nasty personal mails. And
worse, one should also be a bit careful in forwarding private e-mails back
onto a public list.
