Even if you don't use a personal e-mail address, someone, even a non-member, can pop over to the website and read the archives, and get that particular e-mail address off the archives and send you mail. We have no control over this. I guess this is different behavior if you are used to web forums where you have to badmouth someone publicly (though even there, I beleive one can send private e-mail). > I wasn't actually asking about the meetings. Ah, that's another tradition here at GSAS that differs from almost every other club out there, along with our funky triple-auctioneer style, and not holding meetings during the summer. We've always kinda thought of the annual auction as "one of our meetings". In fact, for me personally, until my wife and I started travelling to other clubs around the country (yes, we do this too...ACA and NEC are our two favorite "national" conventions), we had no idea that other clubs even had all-day auctions. Again, the issue of the weekday-vs-weekend is still relevant. Sister club GPAS holds an annual big show yet I beleive has real trouble sometimes getting enough folks at the auction on Sunday ("do I want to waste my sunday sitting around bidding on fish stuff?"). The Kitsap Aquarium Society's once-big annual weekend show completely withered away five years ago (followed shortly by the club itself). We sometimes get out-of-towners from Portland or Vancouver at the two auctions... in previous years, we'd have four or five people flopping on our futons and floor & going back the next day. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, please send mail to majordomo@thekrib.com with "Unsubscribe gsas-member" in the body of the message.
