Hiya. Where are the new meetings going to be held?My experience with other clubs is that the 'annual events' are always held on weekends just so that people who normally can't attend, do so. The auction is always a big attraction because auction fish generally are better quality that pet shop fish and often can be had for much lower prices. If Portland is just doing 'a special speaker' on the weekend without a big auction, I can very well understand why that works no better than a normal meeting for them. Furthermore, the club members get access to more fish this way, I got some of my best fish at my NJ club's annual auctions. The fact that GSAS doesn't have a monthly fish auction is one of the things that I find odd, but I still don't have any tanks so it hasn't been a problem. I may begin whining about it when I *do* have some tanks set up (soon! really! moving to a new rental and the lease allows aquariums! Yay!)
Personally, I have no problem with GSAS regular meetings during the week, but I would have preferred the auction to be held on a weekend esp. since I anticipate a lot of work for the auctioneeers who will have worked at their jobs all day to begin with.
