http://www.fotolog.net/electrokate/?pid=7725594The yellow with the vein on the left bird's chest is the crop, where they pack in a ton of food every few hours and store it til it passes to their stomachs. When I brought them to the last meeting they were tiny. I didn't show everyone as I wasn't really sure it was good for them and I didn't really know if they would make it. One didn't but these two look strong enough. I am a little worried about the runty one.

What kind of birds? I missed them last time... -----Original Message----- From: owner-gsas-member@thekrib.com [mailto:owner-gsas-member@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of rick-rose@comcast.net Sent: Thursday, June 03, 2004 2:27 PM To: gsas-member@thekrib.com Subject: Re: baby birds I brought to the last meeting Hi Kate, The anit-pet policy was specifically for the Seattle Aquarium to protect their wildlife population. Since we no longer meet there, it shouldn't be a problem. This doesn't make it a free-for-all - but I don't imagine that a hand-full of baby birds that are contained would be a problem. As far as I can remember, there is very little COVERED parking available at SPU - plenty of parking, but most of it is out in the open. I'd like to see the birds again :) RickHi,I have a friend who is looking for a cheap used aquarium for cichlids in the 30 gallon range or if bigger in a "tall" style. Anyone want to shed a spare tank? She will build cabinet and lighting but I bet a filter system would also be desirable... The space is 3 feet wide so narrower would be good, since there will be a big ol pile of rocks it should have some depth front to back. I have a 45 tall that is perfect but it's seal is on the way out so I don't want to have her put that over her brand spanking new carpet, she is a friend and all. She would also appreciate plants for her big tank, so if you have both to sell, even better. Anyone want to see the baby birds I brought to the last meeting/should I not bring them to the upcoming one? I think they are old enough to leave unattended for the day but it's hard to say. I know we have an anti pet rule for non fish critters, don't want to bother anyone. On the other hand they are darn cute, small and caged, and not quite weaned. I think I have the option of leaving them in the car if there is shady parking if it's not ok to bring them in.Thanks, Kate ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, please send mail to majordomo@thekrib.com with "Unsubscribe gsas-member" in the body of the message.
