African cichlid "salts" are used to maintain a high kH and gH, with a pH of 8.0 and even above, depending on which rift lake it was designed for. You might have drastically shifted your pH by adding them all at once. It would be worth testing at least. I got some straight plain iodine used for saltwater tanks after that. Use half of what is recommended for saltwater. It has iodine, and other vitamins it's for all cichlids. Since I had read that the crawdads need iodine, I figured I could use this, and the vitamins shouldn't hurt it. We'll find out.....
