Hello All: The Praziquantel doesn't seem to be working on the fish with the major worm problem. I can still seem them hanging out of her. Also, the copper-based Formalite I, which was added to the killie water, doesn't seem to be affecting the worms either, but has killed all the snails. The fish aren't eating at all now, even after several water changes, but at least they have perked up, as they were hardly moving when the copper was in the water. I think the Prazi might work if I could get the fish to eat it, though, as the other killies that ate the medicated food, were exhibiting signs of having the worms internally, as their rectum area was protruding and darkened, and I don't see that in those fish now. I tried shaking up some Prazi with some "Blender Beads" gravel (term for ball in nail polish bottle), and it did swish it around good. But the Prazi added to the water doesn't seem to kill the worms hanging out of the fish that didn't ingest it. I know the speaker on Tuesday is a pro at fish diseases, so he might be some help. It does have Levamisole in it. I'm not surprised that the expired stuff still works, but that's nice to know. It's a shame that there is so much expired stuff out there. In many cases you can judge it by the dust on the package. Levamisol also has Neomycin in it (if I remember correctly) which ages poorly. Still, I would be inclined to buy some Discomed if I found some, since they're not making it anymore. It might be nice to have on hand even if it was past the recommended use date. I haven't tried Praziquantel on Camallanus but I will if I ever find any more fish that have it. I used Praziquantel on some Corydoras metae that had a similar worm infection but it didn't seem to help. I'll be interested to hear how Susan does with her new Levamisole bolus.
