RE: [GSAS-Member] GE silicone

Trish,

If memory serves me right, there was a discussion of making sure you let
the silicone cure at least 24 hours before submerging it in water. As
the chemicals that offgas during curing can be detrimental to fish.
Otherwise the GE Silicone II is very good for working in glass
aquariums, though it does not adhere very well to plexiglas.

Subject: [GSAS-Member] GE silicone

Hello everyone!

I am wanting to build a rock wall for a few of my
tanks, with using fruit crates as support.I did a
search in the archives about silicone. I came accross
a thread which suggested using GE Silicone Sealant,
number RTV108 has anyone ever used this product, and
how did it go.

I know I could just go to LFS and buy some, but need
alot, so if their is a way to save money, and still be
safe for the fish then great!

The silicone needs to adhere to plastic as well as the
rock.

Any ideas would be great!

Trish
