Umm, you do have some sort of sponge or screen over the intake from you power filter to ensure you're not losing fry that way, right?

Before I'd muck around with pH changes, I'd ensure good water quality and give the fry a real good chance to survive - best might be isolate gravid females in a java-moss packed-tank and feed small foods like artemia nauplii. I maintained Endlers' (my nick: EndleSS livebearer) for something like 10 years this way. Biggest problem was finding homes for the extra fish. Too bad GSAS doesn't have a BaP, then everyone would want Endler's livebearers and other easy fish :-)
