I have a 55 gallon pond with fantails (they bred year before last), white  
clouds (breed every year) and a paradise (lost the other 2 years ago) the fish  
have been there 2 - 3 years have wintered outside never had a racoon problem 
the  pond is right outside my sliding glass door cats never bother it ( I have 
2)  biggest problem I have is dogs use it as a water bowl and sometimes stand 
in it  to drink and I have to refill it. Oh and the water hyacinths grow to 
well and  cover the pond to fast so I send the extras to my mother. 
  I also have summered guppies and danios in the pond the first year  as 
midway had them mixed in the feeder tanks
