I guess that rules out bringing a bucket of fish and water on the plane! What if my actions kill the fish? I don't like the thought of that. -----Original Message----- From: gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com [mailto:gsas-member-bounces@thekrib.com] On Behalf Of Tom Watson Sent: Monday, October 08, 2007 8:24 PM To: Greater Seattle Aquarium Society member chat Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] Smuggling Fish I have transported North American natives across the US with mixed results. It is illegal to transport liquids above 3 ounces in your carry-on (no exceptions). A couple years ago I was bringing longear sunfish home from Arkansas in checked baggage. When I was changing planes in DC there was a heat wave, my luggage spent about a half hour on the tarmac, turning my fish into chowder. At other times I have brought home a checked bag with up to 20 fish without losing one. I have much more success sending and receiving live fish by mail. Once, on a trip to Kansas I met up with a professor from Washburn U in Topeka KS. We collected all day in the Topeka area. He held the fish in medicated quarantine for two weeks and then mailed them to me. No loses. Tom West Hyblos Creek Drainage Washington State "You have brains in your head.
