In the past I've done most of my online ordering through 1000bulbs.com, and have had good luck with them (several ballasts, and a number of bulbs with no problems yet). If you're using a 2G11 base, they run from $10.24-$17.21. I like the pl-l55, which runs $11.39. (these prices are for the full-spectrums, the lower temp bulbs are a few dollars less on the same site). http://www.1000bulbs.com/Fluorescent-PlugIn/4-Pin-Base/55-Watt4-Pin-2G11-BaseSingle-Tube/Full-Spectrum--55-Watt-GE-Biax-45851/ Although I don't recommend it to anyone else (because it takes some re-wiring, creating possible fire/shock/death hazzards), an $8 shoplight ballast from home-depot can overdrive one of these bulbs (to about 60 watts)and light it up like the sun. (and I mean *bright*, which is kind of fun for a $20 light). On a side-note, I picked up one of Susan's super-lights, which is also bigger than my tank. No chance of "seasonal depression" here...opening the door to my fish room is like having a religious experience... Cliff > I'm replacing my 55W PC bulbs...
