While doing a water change in the 100g waterlily/shubunkin stock tank I've
had set up since last summer, I found fry. All I have in there are
shubunkins and white clouds, and these were NOT white clouds. I'm going to
be very interested in seeing if I have shubunkin patterns on these
fry....there is already quite a lot of black pigment starting to show in a
mottled pattern. Seems like my other goldfish fry have been solid grey at
this length with NO mottling. The two largest are just over 1/2" and the
smallest is obviously from a different spawn...about 1/4". There are
probably more in there but these were netted out in about 5 minutes of
dipping a big net under the waterlily pads and sweeping out (grin). I
didn't want to leave them in the pond, although they've survived so far,
as the biggest shubunkin (~ 8-10") can easily eat them if it gets the
chance.
Between koi and goldfish babies, I have my work cut out for me! I still
have live koi fry which is good (wink). And Trish's sarassas are going
fine.
I picked up some threadfin rainbows at Denny's over the weekend to fill
one of the Dario dario tanks sitting fishless (sigh). I'm Daio dario-less
now, I give up!
