To further complicate things: 1) What's sold in shops out here (as far as I've found), is blackworms. Not 'red tubifex.' which are smaller (and are the worms in the video). I really wish I could get the 'red tubifex' worms, live, out here, but apparently they're banned in most states due to risk of hepatitis transmission to humans, since they're collected in truly nasty places in Mexico and elsewhere. With care, they're a great killi growth food. I always pick some up when I'm back in NJ. Breathable bags make bringing them back possible. 2) In Chinatown NYC, years ago, I found a shop that specialized in Bettas (pronounced Bett-ahs not Bay-tahs), that sold honest-to-goodness *live bloodworms.* Yes, chironomid larvae, imported, in damp newspaper along with the Bettas. Had to keep them cool otherwise they start flying around and, sadly, biting. I've never seen live chironomid larvae here. Mr. Liem knew what I was talking about but hadn't seen them imported in many years. > From: onefish2fish@comcast.net> To: gsas-member@thekrib.com> Date: Mon, 28 > Jul 2008 15:48:34 -0700> Subject: Re: [GSAS-Member] frozen bloodworms (was) > Re: Was Bulk chemicals - now Salts...and fin rot in guppies...> > I buy them > live.
