Erik,
It is that time of year when you could gather Crane fly larvae from
the turf (when it is not under snow). I would seriously doubt if
anyone would have an issue with collecting this invasive critter. The
kids might think these "giant mosquitoes" are interesting.

Make no mistake, I understand where Matt's coming from, because it IS
an issue that comes up all the time in this (tropical fish) hobby.
I'm sure our speaker on Tuesday will have some stories about the
problems encountered in the rift lakes due to purposeful or accidental
introduction of "harmless" food fish.  And this is so important to
teach to the kids as well...
