Wow, are they phasing out T5 too. As far as I know, the main other option is Metal Halide, but that’s not practical (or necessary) for most people. I thought LED was in the future too. You certainly dont have to buy Coralife bulbs though. I have been happy with my CFL bulbs from AH supply and have also used GE 9325k CPL bulbs (in conjunction with another bulb, like a 6500 or 6700k). Not all people like the slightly pink hue of the 9325K but it makes my rainbow fish absolutely glow.
