The only ways to get rid of green spot algae that I know of, is manual removal by scrubbing, or Nerite snails. These snails are perfect because they can't reproduce in fresh water. And love to eat green spot algae. You need a small herd of them to keep up with the green spot algae though. I've personally tested it in my store, and 1 nerite snail, took about 2 weeks to get on top of a 10 gallon hex tank. I have since ordered a bunch more and have spread them out through the store tanks to start devouring that algae. As it's a pain to get rid of.
