1. I think I've been daydreaming about pretty much the same thing as James. Lots and lots of good looking tanks and some absolutely stunning ones. Most of the people entered to see just where they stood in the world of aquascaping, but some were really trying to take 1st place. Lots of entrants didn't care about the competition, they just wanted to have their tank represented in the "largest collection of aquascape photos ever seen" (wouldn't that be cool to put in a promotion?) :-) Anyway, I've been fantasizing about it a bit, and I see it running pretty much like James described it. 2. Regarding inclusion: I like James' idea from message 00262 in the archives, but I also like the idea of weighting the score cards to favor aquatic plants ("our" definition of aquatic). The weighted score cards really seem like a good idea for judging what we want. If we do it with the weighted score cards, however, it will be paramount that we emphasize that the competition *is* weighted that way. If we do it James' way, then we *are* excluding people from entering the contest. I can't imagine a non-planted tank winning, but if it does, it must be gorgeous, and not something that we(plant people) would have to be ashamed of. I see the merits of both of these ways. James' way: no preconceived notions about the contest, but some exclusion. The weighted scoring way: everyone can still enter the contest, but we have to be very careful to make sure there aren't any preconceived notions Dave Engle Escondido (San Diego) California Non AGA Member ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@aquatic-gardeners.org with "unsubscribe aga-contest" in the body of the message.
