"But interesting... there were a few folks in non-US countries that ended up sending cash because it's prohibitively expensive to get a foreign money order drawn for $5. Good idea!" Isn't Pay-Pal limited to U.S. based folks? Last year I wanted to order some Cyclops-Eeze and the chap who sells it told me that he accepted Pay-Pal. When I attempted to use the service, I couldn't because I wasn't a U.S. resident. Of course, they may have changed their policies. Definately something worth considering (depends upon how much "commission" Pay-Pal wants per transaction - that's why the AGA wouldn't let us accept Visa - the banks charge a high commission to low volume operations). As for costs to foreigners for money orders, I can't understand this. Unless things are TOTALLY different in other countries, the Post Office is the logical place to go for a money order in foreign funds (and this was noted on the web site). In most countries, the postal service provides this service for a very small fee - heck, in Canada you just walk up to the counter, tell the clerk the currency you want the International Money Order in, the amount of the foreign currency and bang - their computer works out the exchange and prints out the Money Order. It's REALLY simple and they only charge about $2.00 Cdn for the service. I realize that banks usually charge a flat fee of around $15.00 Cdn for bank drafts in foreign currency but there are alternatives.
