Re: [AGA-mcm] workloads?

Erik, I suspect that your work for AGA is getting a bit too much, especially at conventions. Correct me if I am wrong.

My workload at the conventions is A/V, which is what I enjoy doing and would like to continue doing. Same deal with the disks and archives -- this is what I do best. I deliberately stay away from doing any other jobs at the convention for this exact reason.

If there is anything I once needed relief on, it was this president job. Thankfully, others on the board have been very forthcoming in that regard, to the point where the "president" is mostly a figurehead except when I have to step in and do something official like today. When someone else is ready to take on the responsibility as president, I am happy to pass on the torch.

Some of my other jobs have been taken over by others already. Cheryl now handles parts of the website. Scott has taken over the PayPal account management.

I also think that Karen's workload could stand to be reduced. Correct me if I am wrong.

Only Karen could answer that, but as far as I can tell, she seems quite happy with her current responsibilities as editor. She delegates the production side of things to Cheryl, who also seems quite happy with that job as well (but again only Cheryl can answer there).

There may be other people working heroically behind the scenes that could use some relief.

It's always a tricky matter of finding willing and competent people to fill jobs. I think we've done pretty well in adding new people over the past 2-3 years, especially as others have transitioned out. New folks like Kathy, Scott, Cheryl, Ann, Larry and now Phil have all been instrumental in getting us to where we are today. But it's not like we have an endless supply of interested and competent volunteers to choose from. As we have seen, even something as simple as having someone be the Official Convention Photographer can turn into a mess.
