Re: [AGA-mcm] [Fwd: RE: Your AGA Membership]

Well, re-reading my own e-mail I think that Amano's articles qualify as non-originals and therefore cannot be reprinted. Sorry.

But I don't believe that we should bite this hand. That could be dangerous. I think we should be nice to Marcus and say that the rules were intended for paper re-prints and no permissions are given for web re-prints. However, we are as interested in growing the hobby as he is, and was there a specific article that he had in mind? Then I can help him with one or two that we have control over (with appropriate links, of course). How about that?

And then make sure to re-word the rules on the web site and in the next TAG.

I do not think our rules address electronic reprinting, and it should.

We are leaving ourselves wide open to have, say, Takashi Amano's articles reprinted on the web.

This prompted me to go back and read the rules to which he

"Original articles appear in The Aquatic Gardener (TAG) may
be reprinted by non-commercial organizations (unless
specifically stated otherwise) provided that the proper
credit is given to the author and to The Aquatic Gardener,
and that at least one copy of the publication containing
the reprinted material is sent to TAG's editor at the time
of publication. Credit to TAG as the original source must
appear at the end of the article, as follows, "

Is that first sentence missing a word?

Can a reader assume that any article that is not an
original article is so noted when published in TAG?

Dear Marcus:

Due to a mailing error, the note on the envelope of TAG
18-2 was
misprinted. It should have read, "expires in 6 issues."
We regret the
error and are taking steps to ensure that it does not
happen again.

If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me
at
