Re: Question regarding preferences for hotel negotiations

Wouldn't the lower room rate be something negotiated at start, i.e. fixed?

Ballroom rate, on the other hand, could be negotiated on a sliding scale,
i.e. beyond 150 room nights it's only $500 or free or something.

Similar to that would be free rooms, i.e. for every N bookings over X we
get a free room night paid.

It would seem that those two are in different categories for ability to
negotiate.

My initial thought would be to go for the ballroom or free room night
comps if possible. Again, thinking in terms of the "cheap path", those
following the cheap path are likely to find ways to double up or stay at a
nearby motel 6. There is an option for them. And if the conference reg
is only $49, they're set.
