I don't think I've been very clear. The hotels have been saying, "well we can forego the ballroom fee but then we can't give you the discount on the room rate." It's a nice ploy for them but they aren't thereby offfering to give in at all really -- just trading Peter for Paul. One wants to break the issues into separate items like Larry did. Like Columbo, "Oh. There's one more thing. We didn't talk about how many roomnights you're going to comp." There is no deal until we execute the contract, which won't happen until the Board approves the contract. HOpe to see it this weekend. sh --- Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> wrote: > Wouldn't the lower room rate be something negotiated at > start, i.e. fixed? > > Ballroom rate, on the other hand, could be negotiated on > a sliding scale, > i.e. beyond 150 room nights it's only $500 or free or > something. > > Similar to that would be free rooms, i.e. for every N > bookings over X we > get a free room night paid. > > It would seem that those two are in different categories > for ability to > negotiate. > > My initial thought would be to go for the ballroom or > free room night > comps if possible.
