A few years ago I went on a similar kick with barcode scanners as I did with wireless mics. I have so many that even if I left four of them at SF, we'd still be in good shape for next year's auction at GSAS. I have laser scanners, CCD scanners, one on a 10-foot cable that can scan two feet away, others that are so tiny they just velcro on the side of the computer, some that use keyboard interface, others that use serial interface, USB serial adapters, USB keyboard adapters... it's ridiculous. And even if they all konk out, the computer people can type in the code by hand ("*G5002K*"). It has built-in checksumming to deal with mistakes in typing. So I'll pull out a few small working ones. :) The barcodes are printed big enough that they can be scanned by anything, even the stupid CueCats (that I've thankfully disposed of). I will try and print all the forms on the company laser printer (no smudging!) next week so I can bring it all down with me. > I wish I could help out more this year. You got us the freaking hotel. I'm guessing it might be more difficult post-merger, but maybe not. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com _______________________________________________ AGA-sc mailing list AGA-sc@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-sc
