Three tanks, one filter

I am about to move and will be making a few changes. I now have a
small fish room in my new house, and am thinking about setting up a
central filter for my three apisto tanks. The three tanks will house a
pair each; cacatuoides, borelli, and sp. Mamore. The tanks they are all
in now have the same conditions, so I figure a central filter would save
a bit of energy.

I am planning on putting them in three 15 gal. set lengthwise on a
shelf. Half of each tank will be heavily planted, with the front half
being open, and a sand substrate. The filter sump will be under the
shelf on the floor.

I will also be setting up a new 55 gal in the living room, which will
house a trio of Cacatoos, and maybe one other species.

Do my plans sound feasible? Any and all tips will be great.
