Re: Blue-green algae



I have the same problem in some of my tanks that have lots of fry in them-
reduce the light level and duration  and step up your water changes for a
while- it will take a couple of weeks.  Also instead if antibiotics for a
dip- just take the plant and rinse them under tapwater- blue green algae
comes off the plants (and everything else) very easily. The bottom line here
is that as long as you have lots of light and nutrients in your tank, blue
green algae (cyanobacteria) will return and flourish- so antibiotics are
only a temporary solution (and not a great one in my humble opinion- we
already have enough antibiotics in our food and bodies from other sources-
we certainly don't need more in our water).
