Doesn't the manner in which fish are aclimated (however it's spelled) to a new aquarium depend on how long they've been in shipping? If you are receiving fish that have been in transit for hours or even a day or more, then the 'dry' method makes sense. But if the fish just came from a local store or another aquarist and _if_ you are not (which at first you shouldn't anyway) putting the fish into water that has large differences in parameters from whatever is used in the store or the breeder- be that local tap water or R/O (as long as you know) then what's wrong with floating the bag and gradually replacing the water in the bag with water from the tank? There can't possibly be much in the way of waste in the transport water under these circumstances. I think we should differentiate between the circumstances under discussion. There is not one rule for all situations. Gabriella Kadar ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the apistogramma mailing list, apisto@listbox.com.
