Re: Dwarf Cichlid Plague

Gabriella (and anyone else with an opinion),

I lost another male Ram this morning - down to one female live caught who is
now probably the fish equivalent of Typhoid Mary.

> First question: did you quarantine the Paduros?

I stupidly floated the Panduros in the 20 gallon tank that my Rams were in
before releasing them in a separate, bare, quarantine tank. I may have
gotten foreign tank water in the Ram tank.

> Second question: Are you feeding any live food to your fish?

I feed my Apistos, and occasionally my other non-Apistos why eat pellets
Sally's frozen live foods: brine shrimp, glass worms and blood worms mostly.
Although, my Rams got Wardley's Cichlid Mini Pellets as their staple diet
(and were thriving on it).

Maracyn: 200 mg of erythromycin per tablet

Maracyn Two: 10 mg Minocycline per tablet

Maracide: Tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane,
Dibromohydroxymercurifluorescein, Aniline Green

CopperSafe: copper.

I used all products simultaneously (recommended) with the recommended
dosages and for the recommended duration (to avoid creating resistant
strains of bacteria in the tank).

Not paranoid, just out of it. The Rams seemed to have buoyancy problems and
would bounce off of objects in the tank. The Cacatuoides are just plain
hiding. I have a couple clay 'caves' - you may have seen them - they look
like little hollow mounds with small openings for fish to enter. Anyway, my
big male Cacatuoides has been hiding in one of them for 2 days. I have
another female who just sits in the corner. I am concerned because it seems
similar to what happened before the Rams started dying. The Cacatuoides are
normally very active and are constantly displaying.

Help!
