Ken, All my apistos eat flakes if the flakes are high quality. Some take more time to adjust, but they all come around to it - especially if they are kept with fish that are used to taking it. They imitate their tank mates. I wouldn't feed the fish at all if they are in a planted tank and will not be without food for more than 10-14 days.
