Hi, I have a planted tank now and profile made my Ph go up slightly.  I think 
that you have to rinse it for an hour to get rid of whatever hardens the 
water but it still raises Ph slightly in my tank.  I know other people who 
say it does not.  They say you can use Turface which won't raise your Ph but 
I have never tried it.  You can get turface at www.yardgeek.com.  It is 8.95 
for a fifty pound bag plus shipping.   If you try it, tell  me how it works
