OH BOY! Ken, You should have chosen an easier specie??!! This is my experience in keeping and ONCE and ONLY ONCE spawn them. I kept them in a thirty.. started out with 5 and ended up with a pair. The tank was set up just like yours with lots of current (Hagen 500 )and hiding places. They like to borrow under a rock so I provided 2 flat pecies of slates at opposite ends of the tank (to put as much distance between the two as possible). They took refuge under the respective slates.. never saw them out unless to grab food ( I fed them lots of frozen blood worms, live earth worms and live black worms). One day I didn't see the female come out to grab the food, this happened for three days, I couldn't wait any longer so I picked up the slate (slowly) expecting either a dead female or eggs/wrigglers. To my surprise she had wrigglers still attached on the underside of the rock. I immediately removed the male. After the fry were out on their own (mother does not take care of fry) I removed them. I raised 15 fry. When I placed the male back to try my luck again...you can guess the outcome!! DEATH!! to the female. Tried several other times but was never able to spawn them again... maybe I was just lucky!! Good luck with yours..hope this helped.
