Re: A. agassizi question

Hi Harmen!

Eggs do not necessarily have to be reddish to be fertile. Egg colour
depends on species and their diet. If you have been feeding lots of
live and frozen foods the eggs are usually deep red. If you give them
mostly flake the eggs are usually white/beige.

Females eat their eggs when they "feel" that the breeding-attempt is
futile, it won't succeed. Try filtering over peat, perhaps even lower
pH further - down to 5.5. Feed more frozen/live foods. Do you have
very lively other fish in the tank? Catfish, nocturnal fish? One
week of recovery is quite short, try separating them after a spawn.
The male could be pushing to hard.

A. agassizii is very variable in breeding difficulty. Some forms are
very easy to breed, others quite hard so don't give up on them just
yet.

Hope this helps,
Fredrik
