There is a unit that is manufactured in Germany by AquaTech called the kati-ani system ..it is a DI unit that uses seperate kation and anion resins in there own containers...From what I am told by people that use them (mostly discus people)that they are the tops in DI units..they are also rechargable using muriatic for one resin and lye for the other resin...there is also no water waste is in RO water...it exchanges hyrdogen ions for carbonate ions..also removes phosphates & silicates ..finish water is 0 ppm and a ph around 5.4-6.0..I have been looking for one myself used..as they range in price betwwen 320- 550..depending on model size...There is a person on this list that has one and I forgot his name..but he sent me all the instructions on recharging and it does not seem hard..he has had it for 5 years now and still works perfect..well thats all the info I can give you... I stil don't quite get it with the water chemistry. Would anyone please kindly explain the relations between General hardness, KH and pH please.
