Here's a response I received from Mike Wise when I sent him a picture and asked him to I.D. an apisto I have. "This fish belongs to the regani-complex (Note the light colored space between the end of the lateral band and the caudal pot. This is a diagnostic feature for species in the regani-complex.) Your fish has been sold in hobby as A. cruzi (which it is not!), A. sp. Apache, and A. sp. Carapintada (part), but the preferred name is A. sp. Masked/Masken. It is reported to be collected around the town of Contamana, north of Pucallpa, on the middle Rio Ucayali of Peru. Since this isn't the main locus for collecting fish in Peru, it might also occur farther north, too." -----Original Message----- From: owner-apisto@admin.listbox.com [mailto:owner-apisto@admin.listbox.com] On Behalf Of Tim R Sent: Wednesday, May 08, 2002 7:39 AM To: apisto@listbox.com Subject: Apistogramma 'Apache' Has anyone heard of this one before?
