A. trifasciata has an extremely wide distribution. It is found throughout the
Rio Paraguay system (Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil & Bolivia) & the upper to
middle Rio Guaporé (Bolivia & Brazil). As such there are many geographic
variations. Add to this the different variations of A. sp. Mamoré and you will
see that variations in color, pattern & shape are considerable. Then consider
that some 'forms' are not common in the hobby & some are wild caught while
others are domestically bred. All these can explain variations in how much they
cost. Value, however, is determined by the buyer. If you think that a fish is a
good value, then buy it. If it is not, don't.
